About Us

Football isn’t called The Beautiful Game for no reason. Commentator Stuart Hall claimed ownership of the phrase in 1958 but it was apparently initially used by Brazilian soccer player Pelé to describe Association Football. While the jury is still out as to who really coined the phrase first, the main thing to know is that it is a name that has stuck to the whole phenomenon of football, simply because the game reasoccer-673474_960_720lly is beautiful – from the grace and moves you see when it is played well by seasoned professionals, to the smooth design of the rules on any kind of field, football is universal.

It’s a social reality which can unite the world in such a way that politics and money don’t matter anymore. Indeed, for some societies, football is almost something of a religion: from the uniforms and the slang associated with it, to the values of camaraderie, it is akin to the lifeblood of society, more so than any other sport, because it’s not only about winning, it’s also about the sheer wonder and beauty of kicking a ball around and strategically operating so that your team wins.

Modern football as we know it began in the 1860s in England, and it is truly here to stay, with high stakes and serious competitions of the greats, a whole betting industry that supports it, and an underbelly of youth education, success stories, networks and associations. Everything you need to know about the Beautiful Game can be found right here.
