IPSWICH WANDERERS 2 v. DEREHAM TOWN 2

RIDGEONS PREMIER LEAGUE

SATURDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2006

Dereham made all the play in the early stages and troubled the Wanderers defence with long throws from Amis and good corners. Matthew Cunningham was booked on 20 minutes for a high boot; Wanderers first constructive attack on 30 minutes gave Ricky Martin a chance on the left, but he fired wide. Dereham continued pressing forward with some good play but squandererd the final ball. Wright was causing problems with his runs into the area but his final chances were wasted. On the stroke of half time, against the run of play, a free kick on the left from Keith Hetherington gave Sam Banya an open goal to head Wanderers into the lead.

Dereham started the second period well and forced Jamie Stannard to make a string of fine saves until the 50th minute when Kerry converted to put them level. On 66 minutes from another Amis long throw, Kerry got his second with a close header and Dereham took a deserved 2-1 lead. Wanderers brought on Paul Westren, Lee Smith and Alan Mills for the last ten minutes and looked dangerous for the first time in the game. Their efforts paid off when Dean Tournay-Godfrey equalised on 82 minutes heading in on the far post from a Bradley Barber corner. Both teams pressed for the winner, to no avail.
